This CODEPEH document, which complements the 2023 work, aims to set tandardised protocols to promote and improve the quality of early detection, diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss.This should be considered not only an important health problem, which needs to be assessed and treated, but also a serious educational concern, due to the implications it has, if it is not diagnosed and treated in time, on behaviour, participation and social interaction in these children and adolescents, apart from causing delays and disorders of spoken and written language and in access to learning.
Postnatal hearing screening should be included in the public health service portfolio, as with other population-based screening programmes for children.
