In order to complete the work started in 2018 in which the child hearing screening process was reviewed and updated, in its level 1 Detection, this document completes the review and update of the early detection programs for child deafness, focusing on the phase diagnoses, decision-making regarding treatment and the follow-up process, taking the most recent scientific evidence as a guide and thus concluding the full review of this process, which began in 2018. It addresses the critical update points regarding the etiological and audiological diagnosis, as well as questions related to the treatment of congenital deafness, highlighting the importance of binaural hearing and warning that unilateral deafness is not without negative consequences on the development of the child Therefore, treatment and monitoring is also required. In this regard, the expansion of indications in relation to cochlear implantation is also addressed.
