This brochure, which is a supplement to the Document “Diagnosis and treatment of secretory otitis media in children: CODEPEH 2016 recommendations“, is designed as a practical tool containing recommendations in the form of a flow chart for the proper management of secretory otitis, providing professionals with supporting information that is easily accessible for everyday application.
It guides professionals involved in the prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment of SOM, as indicated, from a clinical viewpoint regarding the most suitable methods of diagnosis, the identifying of risk factors, etc. It also provides an educational viewpoint, with guidance for families and teachers on the consequences on language development, as well as on the acquiring of instrumental skills linked to language and other lessons that have an impact on the child’s behaviour and development.
