As part of its program Advocating for the rights and promoting the participation and active lives of older people with hearing loss (2026), FIAPAS has published “The Digital Divide and Older People with Hearing Loss. Accessibility to hearing, information, and communication”. This document addresses the barriers hindering older people with hearing loss from accessing and using technology and digital services, while highlighting the importance of ensuring accessibility regarding hearing, information, and communication.
Its goal is to contribute to a more inclusive digital society by fostering the autonomy, participation, and well-being of older people with hearing loss through the integration of accessibility by design, clear and visually accessible information, high-quality captioning, hearing-aid-compatible technologies, tailored support, and alternatives to exclusively digital services.
