This prospective study shows a significant improvement in the general cognitive status (memory, attention and language) of people with deafness evaluated, in this case, after twelve months using a cochlear implant.
In the current climate, with the pandemic having highlighted the isolation and lack of access to information and communication that we have faced, especially in the case of the elderly, a situation aggravated in the case of hearing loss, this study also confirms the positive effect of the adaptation of a hearing device (both auditory implants and hearing aids), promoting healthy ageing and avoiding isolation, loneliness, cognitive impairment due to lack of information and motivation for interaction and communication with the surrounding world.
