Content:

The publication provides a snapshot of the socio-educational status of hearing loss people in Spain, based on the most relevant data and findings of the Study conducted by FIAPAS between 2017 and 2018, in collaboration with the Ministry of Vocational Education and co-funded by the ONCE Foundation. It analyses trends and realities concentrated over recent years in relation to these students, with the support of their families.

The study was conducted on a sample of 793 cases of children and young people with a hearing impairment aged between 0 and 26 throughout Spain. It identifies the factors influencing the improvements detected through the analysis compared with data from other studies carried out over twelve years ago by FIAPAS, highlighting which of them have proven their effectiveness and should be generalised and promoted, while detecting the emerging needs arising from this new situation to which the responses of the Education System and public policy in this area must be redirected and adapted.
